This week, we had our group project pitch to decide which project we will be doing for the semester. We ended up pitching four ideas relating to interracial relationships, college majors, law enforcement, and athletics. Each person in our group took charge of pitching an idea, and in the end, after class, we decided to go with the idea of interracial relationships. Since one of the members of our group is in an interracial relationship, we know we definitely have at least one of two people we can interview and profile. This is also a topic where the main people involved are less likely to be guarded about speaking out about bias and stereotypes. It’s also likely that we’ll be able to find statistical content relating to the topic, and can present and compare infographics from around the country relating to interracial relationships.
For next week, we’ll have to finish our group’s team project schedule for the semester. This might be a bit difficult, considering we are all relatively busy outside of class and can’t foresee things that may come up and hinder progress later in the semester. It will just be important that we get a good framework for what we’d like to have done at checkpoints and figure out how long those tasks will take to get done.
