In order to make this team successful this semester, I’ll need to be able to balance my schedule and prioritize work. Since I’m in three music groups that rehearse multiple times a week, I have to make sure I keep up to date with all my responsibilities. For this project, that means knowing what tasks I’ve been assigned within the group and when they’ll need to be done. Luckily, I have been doing this since my freshman year, so I have different methods I’ve gotten used to for staying on track with assignments. I keep a calendar updated with all major due dates and assignments at my desk, as well as a running to-do list that I keep updated day to day with any assignments I have, and what I need to have done before classes.
I think the biggest thing a good group can have is good communication. If everyone is consistently responsive, everyone in the group will no how everything is progressing and will be better able to fix any unforeseen issues early. Teams that don’t work well together are generally filled with people who are more individual minded and refuse to collaborate with others. They also don’t communicate super well.
This week, our group was all in class, so we got our team contract finished and also continued discussing more about what possible topics we’d like to do since the idea pitch is next week. We decided that the topics relating to bias around different college majors and stereotypes relating to interracial relationships. Hopefully, we’ll be able to come up with a good schedule depending on what idea we decide to go with.
